Ruby Slippers

Ruby Slippers lives by the motto that you’re either Dorothy, or you’re the twister, and she’s one hell of a technicolour cyclone. She’s campy yet vampy, a clown-in-a-gown, burlesque supervillain and drag disruptor, not to mention a serial name-dropper. She’s shared the stage with Amanda Lepore, Melanie C, Brooke Candy, Pabllo Vittar and The Boulet Brothers, and Michelle Visage has called her work “incredible”. In 2017 Ruby toured the country as a national headliner for the Australian Burlesque Festival, and in 2017 and 2018 was honoured by her peers, winning the title of “Most Innovative” at the The Busties, the Australian burlesque industry awards. In 2022 she was invited to perform at the Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekender in Las Vegas at their Movers, Shakers and Innovators showcase, as well as New York’s iconic Slipper Room. Ruby continued her winning streak of being a badass babe into 2023 when she blew minds at the Drag Expo Melbourne Gala alongside international RuPaul’s Drag Race alumni, and headlined the 10 Year Anniversary of the Perth International Burlesque Festival. In 2024, she was globally recognised as the 25th Most Influential Burlesque performer in the world by her industry and hosted and headlined shows from intimate queer bars to the Adelaide Cabaret Festival. Ruby is a founding member of the Melbourne Excellence in Drag and Entertainment Awards (MEDEAs) judging panel, seeking to celebrate and uplift the vibrant Naarm Melbourne performance community. She’s also a teacher at Maison Burlesque, sharing her knowledge and love of queer performance, costuming and makeup with up and coming superstars of the stage.
