Knox Harter
For nearly two decades, my life has been defined by the mechanics of the performance: from the classical precision of a ballet barre to the subversive dramaturgy of burlesque. As a performer, choreographer, the Artistic Director of Mayfly Creative Productions, and the General Manager of Rouge Studio of Dance, I have spent thousands of hours deconstructing what makes a movement or a performance breathtaking and what makes a character unforgettable.
Enter the Digital Atelier
I created this space for the artists, the students, and the seekers who want to look past the rhinestones and into the structure. Here, I move beyond the finished performance to share the raw blueprints of my process.
Whether you are a student at Rouge looking to deepen your technique, or a fellow professional seeking a director’s eye for your own branding and imaging, this is your backstage pass to twenty years of multidisciplinary expertise and real-world professional experience.
What We Build Here:
The Mechanics of Movement: Technical deep-dives into ballet, jazz, and burlesque that prioritize alignment, strength, and stage presence.
The Director’s Perspective: Exclusive "Notes" on the business of performance, the philosophy of the "tease," and the architecture of act development.
A Performance Ecosystem: Seamless integration with the Rouge Studio of Dance loyalty program, where your digital commitment earns you "Charms" and prestige in the physical studio.
Join the Work
Performance is an accumulation of intent. In this circle, we don't just "show"—we build, we edit, and we master.
Welcome to the inner circle of the Atelier!

Who is Knox Harter?
Knox Harter is a multi-disciplinary performer, dancer, choreographer and creator based in Toronto, known for her emotional performances with dynamic movement and impressive physical ability. Her repertoire of acts consists of full and lively characters ranging from sweet and humorous to severe and sinister. Her intensity radiates into the audience for an engaging and thrilling spectacle, often stepping past the fourth wall creating unforgettable, and one-of-a-kind performance moments.
Originally a classically trained dancer with a B.F.A. in Performance Dance from TMU (formerly Ryerson University), Knox has extensive training in ballet, contemporary, jazz and musical theatre in particular. Her teaching career began at 15 years old at her home studio The Dance Centre in Stouffville ON. Her early career consisted of regular national tours with Motus O Dance Theatre based in Stouffville, stage work with the Canadian Opera Company, featured appearances with Love Letters Cabaret, and consistent gig work both as a dancer and choreographer for club, corporate and event entertainment. Her teaching career quickly expanded as she moved to Toronto with regular classes at City Dance Corps as well as residencies in the Toronto District School Board under Kaeja d’Dance.
Knox’s foray into burlesque began after a successful audition for a show looking for “jazz dancers comfortable in heels” in 2008. She has since created a broad repertoire of burlesque acts that have been seen across Canada and Europe. Knox began her role as an artistic director, choreographer and performer with High Society Cabaret in 2012, where she was wearing multiple hats as she oversaw client entertainment bookings, regular theatrical productions and monthly burlesque shows. The company would close in 2022 due to the global pandemic.
In 2023, Knox completed a diploma in Event and Venue Management from the Trebas Institute and shortly after launched Mayfly Creative Productions, where performances and productions quickly emerged under the new entertainment company. Knox also returned to teaching with Rouge Studio of Dance not only as an instructor, but as the studio manager for the Toronto location.
