Geekgasm Revue is calling for acts for their next show on Friday, September 18th at Kick Butt Coffee in Austin, TX. Excelsior! Geekgasm Revue, Austin's longest running nerdlesque show, is pitting the two mega-forces in American comics Marvel and DC in an epic battle to see who reigns supreme! What are we looking for? The world of comics is full of heroes, villains, and everything in between. Show us your favorite character in their glory, doing mundane tasks, gender-swapped - show us what you got! Acts can be sourced from: Marvel and DC live action movies and TV Marvel and DC animated Marvel and DC comics (for those characters yet to grace our screen - how deep can you dive?) For more inspiration, try either Marvel's character encyclopedia or DC's character encyclopedia At this time, the following characters have been reserved - Thor (Marvel), Loki (Marvel), and Poison Ivy (DC)
Pay / rate details
Pay is $75 guarantee per act, plus a split of tips and a travel stipend if you're coming from out of town.
Requirements
Items of note: Geekgasm Revue prides itself on being a safe space for our BIPOC, Queer, Trans, and Drag performers and we make effort to book a diverse cast. Unless it has been cleared with the producers, a video submission of the act is required. This can be a "living room video" (i.e., does not need to have full costume) but we need to see your ideas about movement. Burlesque, drag, and variety show acts will all be considered. At this time we are not accepting pole, aerial, or fire-based acts. "Messy" acts must be contained to a tarp. Submitting more than one act or idea is great; existing acts and new acts will be considered. We may book multiple acts from the same performer if they blow us away! If you have performed with us in the two most previous shows in a row, we will give preference to those who have not been booked. Not sure about your idea? Feel free to reach out to the producers at geekgasmaustin@gmail.com if you want to discuss a potential act idea for submission, but we will only take official submissions via the form. Application submissions open July 2nd and close Friday, July 24th. Acceptance or rejection will be sent out by July 31st.
